What's in a Food Parcel?
Each parcel is meant to make a real difference to your food budget. What's inside changes each week depending on stock. You can tell us if there's anything you can't eat.
- Fresh vegetables — for example carrots, potatoes, onions
- A seasonal item — leeks, broccoli, cucumber, and so on
- Mixed fruit — we can leave out anything you don't eat
- Tinned staples — tomatoes, beans, or pulses
- A carbohydrate — pasta or rice
- Household items like toilet roll when we have them
Members get 2 food parcels a month as an ongoing right. If you're not a member but you're in crisis, we can still help. Read more about how our food parcels work.
How We're Different From a Food Bank
Traditional food banks
- You need a referral from a GP or social worker
- One-off emergency help only
- Charity model — someone decides if you deserve help
- No say in how it runs
Food & Solidarity
- No referral — ever
- Ongoing regular support for members
- You get food as a right, not a favour
- Members vote on decisions and campaigns
- We also help with housing, eviction, and bailiffs
We don't just hand out food. We also help members fight bad housing, stop evictions, and stand up for their rights. If your landlord isn't fixing damp or mould, or you're worried about eviction, we can help with that too. Read more about our approach.
