Supporting Newcastle’s Stagecoach Strikers: How Our Parcels Work & How You Can Join Us
Newcastle Stagecoach Workers Strike for Pay Parity: Here's Our Support
The Pay Gap: £15.01 vs £17.53 in Manchester
Starting Monday, 600 Stagecoach drivers and engineers in Newcastle will stop work over a simple demand: equal pay. While colleagues in Manchester earn £17.54/hour, Newcastle staff receive £15.01. Stagecoach’s offer – 3.3% now and 1.7% next January – still leaves them behind. As Unite’s Sharon Graham stated, it "totally undervalued them."
When you strike, you lose pay. Food & Solidarity’s Strikers’ Solidarity Parcels exist for this moment.
For workers withholding labour on August 18th and 21st, we prioritise access to our weekly essential food and household parcels.
How It Works for Strikers:
Request a parcel using our dedicated form:→ www.foodandsolidarity.org/strikersolidarity (Available to all union members taking industrial action this or any week)
Collect your parcel at our distribution hub in the west end of Newcastle (NE4)
These parcels aren’t charity. They’re material support for people fighting workplace inequality: a tool to help sustain action when wages stop.
How Strikers' Solidarity Parcels Work - This Program Exists Because of Our Members
We fund parcels through membership, not donations. 300+ working-class members contribute monthly on a sliding scale (£3-£10/month or 1 hour’s wage). This creates:
Stability: Regular funding for striker support and twice-monthly member parcels for those that want/need, many opt out.
Sliding scale contribution, higher fees subsidise food parcels.
Power: Leverage to back actions like this strike. And to carry out direct action against rouge landlords.
“Two parcels a month help extremely. We’re happy and in unity!" – Stella,
Food & Solidarity member

Why This Matters, Join 300+ Neighbours Building Worker Power
Stagecoach claims meeting worker demands would raise fares. But the real cost is forcing Newcastle workers to accept less than colleagues elsewhere for the same job.
Our parcels offset that pressure.
Our members make it possible.
Join your neighbours! Fund the fight! Solidarity isn’t a slogan! it’s a practical commitment!
